The Burgundian

The color that defines the season

Deep, sophisticated, almost magnetic, burgundy is asserting itself as one of the key colors of the season. Softer than black, more subtle than a bright red, it immediately adds character to an outfit without ever overpowering it.

Wearing burgundy means showing confident elegance and a certain maturity in one’s choice of colors. The shade evokes velvet, red wine, and the first days of autumn. It warms up complexions, adds depth to fabrics, and transforms everyday essentials into true stylistic statements.

This season, there is no need to put together a total look. Burgundy slips into the wardrobe in precise touches: a cashmere sweater, a plaid shirt, a structured blazer, or a pair of shoes. Three outfits, three ways to wear it.

The first look relies on a strong piece that appears simple: a burgundy cashmere sweater by Colorush. Its high neck and generous cut give it an enveloping look, while its color immediately brings depth to raw denim.

Paired with the Love at Me wide-leg jeans, the sweater strikes the right balance between softness and structure. The black belt cinches the waist, while the pointed pumps and the Polo Ralph Lauren bag create a more urban silhouette. The result has that slightly nonchalant allure we love: a comfortable, yet perfectly mastered wardrobe.

Here, burgundy naturally replaces the more expected shades of winter knitwear. It illuminates the deep blue of the jeans and gives the look a richer presence, without losing its simplicity.

In the second look, burgundy is more discreet. It appears in the check pattern of the See U Soon shirt, blended with shades of beige and brown. The ruffled high neck, delicately gathered cuffs, and intricate bib bring a romantic touch, immediately balanced by a grey skirt with generous pleats.

The Love at Me high boots pick up the color in a chocolate-burgundy tone, creating a subtle continuity with the shirt. The black Jérôme Dreyfuss tote bag adds the necessary contrast and grounds the outfit in everyday life.

This combination shows the full richness of burgundy: the color does not need to dominate the entire outfit to be noticed. A few details are enough to warm up grey and add more dimension to a daytime look.

The third silhouette plays with contrasts. The burgundy Veronica Beard blazer immediately sets the tone with its structured cut and deep shade. It is worn over an ecru American Vintage cardigan and wide-leg Love at Me trousers in the same luminous palette.

The ecru softens the burgundy and reveals its full warmth. The Flabelus velvet Mary Janes pick up the color of the blazer in a more intense, almost ruby shade. This chromatic echo creates a cohesive outfit without falling into monochrome.

This is arguably the brightest way to wear burgundy this season: surrounded by off-white, cream, and soft textures. The color then becomes less classic, fresher, and decidedly contemporary.

A touch is enough

Burgundy possesses that rare ability to make an outfit more assertive without making it too strict. With raw denim, it reveals its urban side. Paired with grey, it becomes more intellectual. Against ecru, it unveils all its sophistication.

Whether in knitwear, on a shirt, a blazer, or a pair of shoes, it naturally integrates into the seasonal wardrobe. A single piece is enough to transform a look and give it that particular depth we look for as soon as autumn arrives.

This season, burgundy is not just accompanying the outfit. It is setting the tone.
